Study on Indicators for
Research in Developing Countries: The Senegalese Case
Dr. Abdoulaye Gaye (senkou5@yahoo.fr)
Chairman, CODATA Senegal, Senegal
The study will demonstrate
and contribute to the capabilities for sustainable development in West Africa
by identifying and reviewing scientific end results that will help managers
and policy-makers to make better informed decisions about activities in Senegal.
It is expected that the study and the resulting online publication will help
foster communication and interaction among a number of interested groups at
the local and regional levels. The primary target audience includes scientists,
data managers, educators, government and industry policy-makers, and NGOs working
in Senegal and the West African region, and their counterparts and UNESCO who
have similar interests in that specific region. A secondary, but also very important,
audience includes similar categories of individuals in other African nations,
as well as in other developing countries, who are concerned with using scarce
resources for improved decision making in science-based sustainable development
activities, particularly relating to agricultural and rural systems.
