Gas-Hydrate Formation Accelerated by Tiny Bubbles from Porous Plate

Prof. Feng (zhoucy@ms.giec.ac.cn)

On the basis of two-phase flow principles and ordinary gas hydrate formation conditions, proposed a new way to shorten induction time by introducing gas from the bottom of a high-pressure-reactor and dispersing it with porous plate to enlarge contact area, strengthen stirring in liquid. Then a set of experiment device including a high- pressure-reactor with acrylic windows was built, dynamic experiments on gas hydrate formation process in
SDS aqueous solution were done. The results showed, this method was effective in reducing induction time, at certain experiment condition, compared with static experiment ( gas inlet at the top), induction time is only 1/3 of the latter; induction time decreased with pressure increase, and influenced by aeration process as well. But how to keep the porous plate from jamming after induction time is the problem waiting to be solved.
