J-STAGE was established by Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) in 1999 to help academic societies in Japan publish their journals electronically. Currently it makes more than 310 journal titles available online. Articles on J-STAGE have links with other electronic journals via CrossRef as well as databases and services such as PubMed, STN, SciFinder, and JDream II of JST. J-STAGE has developed an electronic manuscript tracking system for the publishers to help streamline their editorial processing. JST is now digitizing archival issues of key journals, and making them available on journal@rchive, an archive site of J-STAGE.
