A Comprehensive Informational System on Gas Hydrates

In framework of CODATA-ICSU project on creation of comprehensive information system on gas hydrates a meta data bank was started at the institute of inorganic chemistry in Novosibirsk, Russia.

As a meta bank the system has a goal to provide users with "information about information". It is important first of all to participants of the project for the comprehensive information system is planned as a distributed one with contributions from many groups acting in different countries. In is supposed that the system may be used also by other specialists interested in gas hydrates, by general public, students, decision makers. The system is realized as a www portal available worldwide. The portal at the moment includes following sections:

• Information on identified data groups around world
• Bibliography of Gas Hydrates related publications
• Electronic Magazine for publishing reviews and any other types of publications
• Useful links: internet sites related to has hydrates
• Information about international and national events related to data activity on gas hydrates
• General information on gas hydrates.
• Membership engine for registering users.

Authors believe that developed structure of the meta bank can be applied for presenting general information required for participants of distributed systems independent on the subject.
