The use of the latest strategic management is very critical to sustain and grow  knowledge management. This paper shows how strategy-focused knowledge management with a knowledge score card can be used in managing knowledge.

Knowledge score card is a performance measurement system that allows the knowledge managers to view knowledge from several perspectives simultaneously. When viewed in non-profit perspectives, they are mission, stakeholders, internal knowledge processes, learning and growth. When viewed in for-profit perspective, they are financial, customer, internal processes, learning and growth. A knowledge score card like a balanced scorecard is not a list of measures.  It is a description of the knowledge strategy. The knowledge scorecard starts with a description of the knowledge strategy by the strategy map of balanced scorecard.  As defined in the balanced score card, the strategy map is a set of cause and effect relationships.

There are two things associated with a knowledge strategy. They are the quality of the strategy and the ability to execute the strategy. The ability to execute strategy is more important than the strategy itself.

To execute a strategy it is first required to understand the strategy by all concerned with a uniform approach of knowledge management. Knowledge strategy when simply described, clearly communicated allows the knowledge managers to create  an incredible focus. Everything in the domain of knowledge can now be focused on the knowledge strategy.

A strategy focused knowledge management is a fundamentally different way of organizing the knowledge.  It is a different way of managing knowledge that satisfies  to the requirements of the knowledge economy.
