The rapid spread of the Internet has allowed for sharing of intellectual basic
information in each material specialized field, facilitating the development
of new values with tips of other field information. Our institute has offered
creep and fatigue test results of structural materials as Data Sheets for many
years, and have decided to make a database of them and offer as one of intellectual
basic materials information on structural materials. The structural materials
database consists of a text database and a fact database with URL of http://tuge.nims.go.jp/. The text
database provides Creep and Fatigue Data Sheets and Material Strength Data Sheets
Technical Documents in PDF that have been offered in print, while the fact database
stores Creep and Fatigue Data Sheet tables as a database, enabling search and
comparison of necessary data with cross search (simultaneous multiple search)
of Data Sheets and materials. Data Sheets issued before have been published
in PDF format on the Internet since April in 2003. A fact structural materials
database based on Creep and Fatigue Data Sheets can be accessed from inside
of the institute and the usability has been improved and defects have been fixed
for release on the Internet in April 2004. In this paper, the database, database
design concept and stored data contents are outlined, then searching methods
of stored data are introduced in detail, followed by a few utilization examples
using searched data. It is hoped that this database will improve materials credibility
and will be used for making plant design standards.
