In the domain for the materials property data of the VAMAS (The Versailles Project
on Advanced Materials and Standards) projects, investigation for sharing of
the materials database which stores materials property data is advanced by the
specialist in Japan. The contents of investigation are
as follows. - Investigation of the data structure for the materials database.
- Reexamination of the data structure by XML description. - And creation of
the DTD module which defines the data structure of the materials database. This
report introduces about production of the data input interface based on the
result of those activities. The main functions of the produced data input interface
are as follows. 1) Data input by a user's original form. - Original form inputs
data by the created original data form. 2) Data input by XML-DTD which defined
the basic structure of the database. - Basic form uses the existing data structure
module (NMC MatDB-DTD, MatML), and inputs data. 3) Data input by the form which customized
the basic structure DTD. - Customize form extends a part of structure based
on the basic data structure, and inputs data. The input form of this interface
has such three functions. 4) This interface uses XML and DTD, and the data inputted
in each form is outputted in XML form. XML is the data description language
on the Internet, and assumed the sharing on the Internet in the future.
