Web site provides information on the activities of the Joint ICSU/CODATA ad
hoc Group on Data and
Information.
The International Council for Science (ICSU) was created in 1931 to promote international scientific activities in all areas of natural science and their applications for the benefit of humanity. Since its creation, a major objective of ICSU has been to assure that scientists in all nations can obtain access to data and other types of technical information that are essential to their work. ICSU recommends as a general policy the fundamental principle of full and open exchange of data and information for scientific and educational purposes. The Committee on Data for Science and Technology (CODATA) is an interdisciplinary scientific committee of ICSU that seeks to improve the quality, reliability, management, and accessibility of data of importance to all fields of science and technology. Comments and queries are welcome. Please send messages to the chair of the Group: Ferris Webster |
